Walk-a-thon Thank you

Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers that showed up to make our 2019 World of Colors Walk-a-thon a success! Your time and dedication to Cherry Crest is what makes our school and community great. And a huge thank you to this year’s Walk-a-thon Chairs Alan Schon and Robert Linares. These two wonderful dads spent many hours working to make this year’s event a colorful success.

We want to extend a special thank you to our team members who worked behind the scenes in September to help make walkathon happen – Karin Hargrove, Kat Schifano, Chelsea Lientz, Nhimy Chung, Alli Burton, Diana Arredondo, and Goms Sundaresan.

We also extend a HUGE Thank You to the PTSA Communications Team – Nhimy Chung, Jingxia Ni, Namita Sheokand, Aysun Eskici, Amy Karlson, Heather Sherman, Zhijie Guan, Kat Schifano, and Di Wang, for working tirelessly in getting information timely to all the families.

And Thank You to Dusty Steere, Erin Stedman, Susie Nakamura, Denise Anderson and all teachers for helping us to make the event a success. Thank you all!

Walk-a-thon We Exceed Our Goal

Thank you for all the parents who donated and volunteered to make the first successful Walk-a-thon event ever. We exceed our fundraising goal! This Thursday we will wrap up and celebrate all the kids hard work (and fun) at the Walk-a-thon. The class that had the most students reach their lap goal will get to slime Mr. Steer at an assembly on Thursday. At the assembly we will announce to the students how much has been raised to help fund school curriculum enhancement and community building activities. Thank you all again for all your support!

A World of Colors” Walk-a-thon

We will have a Color Walk-a-thon Party to celebrate Cherry Crest’s 50th Anniversary!

Inspired by the Holi Festival, our theme this year is “A World of Colors” to celebrate the fantastic diversity in our community and the world.

All Cherry Crest students will receive a Walk-a-thon t-shirt to wear on Walk-a-thon day featuring the winning shirt design from student Dhriti Mummulla! Our kids are excited to collect donations and walk lots of laps!

Color Walk-a-thon & Carnival

A ton of Fun, Food and Music! After walking many colorful laps, we’ll have a Fun Festival with carnival games led by 5th graders and live music by Grammy-nominated band Recess Monkey. Come hungry because we’ll have an awesome line-up of food trucks featuring;

  • The Roll Pod
  • Chicago West Hot Dogs
  • Mami Tran
  • Jessica’s Unique Bite

This is a community-building event as well as a fundraiser and we hope to see everyone there! Bring your family, friends, and neighbors. Everyone is welcome!

This is an awesome and fun event to volunteer and participate with your kids by September 27th. We need about 100 volunteers to make this event possible.

Donate by Monday, October 7th

Our goal this year to raise $50k for our 50th Anniversary. Suggested pledge donation goal is $150 per child.

The Walk-a-thon is the school year’s first fundraiser for the Cherry Crest PTSA.

100% of the proceeds from the Walk-a-thon and other PTSA fundraisers cover things that benefit all of our students, such as:

    • Teacher Aides in the classrooms
    • Curriculum enhancement activities for all grades and classes
    • Field trips
    • Classroom presenters

Also please consider making a donation, sponsoring a teacher’s t-shirt, or covering the cost of your child’s t-shirt.

Help us raise funds by asking your Family, Friends, Neighbors to donate. Also don’t forget to get a company match and double your impact!

Use sponsor letter to send out to friends and family!

Help us reach our goal of raising $50K for our 50th Anniversary

Give your child permission to participate either online or download a paper form, and tell us where your child will go after dismissal.

It takes 100+ parents, volunteering in shifts to make this event great!

Double your impact! Ask your company to match your volunteering time and your donation. More details here!
